Lady Gaga and Beyonce swept the boards at the MTV VMA Awards this year, but who won what?

Kanye West's outburst during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech overshadowed the awards this year, but it's the amazing performances from Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Taylor herself that really wowed us.

Janet Jackson kicked off the night with a tribute to brother Michael, performing their legendary duet Scream and Thriller with a troupe of dancers.

Lady Gaga's performances are always arty and odd, but her VMA show was like something out of a horror film, ending with her covered in blood and hanging from the ceiling...eeek!

Gaga won Best New Artist and some other random awards like Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction - well, she does have the most outrageous videos in pop!

What is she wearing and what is that all over her nose! Ew!
