Love karaoke? Then check out X-box's new song-fest Lips. And prepare to get, er, lippy
At Sugarscape we're ALL about the karaoke.
So when we heard about new Xbox singing fest Lips we couldn't WAIT to try the game out for ourselves. And when we found out we'd be doing it as part of the Xbox/Ibiza Rocks Weekender in, erm, Ibiza, we got even more excited. And that's pretty goddam excited people!
So - once we'd rocked out for real to Weekender acts The Cuban Brothers, Zane Lowe and The Mystery Jets - we were more than ready to get vocal ourselves. Which is where Xbox Lips came in (and not a minute too soon - we were ready to storm the stage).

So, apart from the ace, pout-tastic name, what's it all about? Well for a start, Lips isn't like any old console karaoke game. As well as a huge range of music already on there (from old classics to current chart faves like Estelle, Duffy and Peter, Bjorn, and John), you can download new tracks from Xbox LIVE AND plug in your own pod and sing along to songs from your own playlists. So the musical (or tuneless screeching) possibilities are actually endless. Winner!

And, for all you true performers out there (of which we proudly count ourselves) Lips comes with WIRELESS microphones, so you can really rock out without fear of tripping eachother up/pulling any vital cords out - a factor which, we feel, only added to Sugarscaper's performances.
What's more, the mics actually respond to the singer's actions, and can be used as percussion instruments while you rock out mid song. Not so much air guitar, as air, er, microphone. AND your mates can join in on the normal controllers, chipping in anything from a tambourine, to a handclap, or even a cowbell. Because who doesn't have a superstar cowbeller amongst their mates?
And this isn't the only development in Xbox land. As well as bringing out ace, superfun, interactive games like Lips that are perfect for parties or a girlie nights in (especially if you're not so into the Halo 3s of this world!), there are other amazing new features. Now you can download great movies straight onto your console to save you having to go to the DVD shop, plus music videos and loads of other stuff. You can even chat with your friends on MSN, and have video chats with your friends around the world - so everyone can get involved.
So, what we're really saying here is: Xbox is ace. Lips is ace. We're pretty much hooked. And we want to go back and play it all over again. At the Xbox/Ibiza Rocks weekender. Forever. Is that okay?
