Bullying has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons – here’s your chance to change that

Every day girls – and boys – are bullied for the way they look, for their music taste, for which school they go to… Bullies have an endless number of reasons for picking on others, but none of them justify what they’re doing. Which is why we’re looking for a talented Sugar Scaper to design an eye-popping poster as part of our Sugar/ChildLine Stand Up, Speak Out 2008 campaign.
.jpg)
ChildLine (working with the Anti-Bullying Alliance) and Sugar want to encourage everyone to speak out about bullying. YOUR poster could be what makes someone ask for help or report a bully. It’s easy to enter and the winning poster will be displayed in thousands of schools around the country. We can’t wait to see your amazing designs!
How to enter
1. Design a poster
What would make you stop and think about bullying? We
want you to design a poster that will grab people’s attention,
make bullies rethink their attitude and encourage those affected
by bullying to Stand Up, Speak Out and ask for help.
Be as creative as you like with your poster design, but remember that it:
• Must include the SUSO and ChildLine logos – find them below!
• Must be A4 in size
• Must have words and pictures to stop bullies in their tracks

Your design brilliance will also be rewarded with these amazing prizes:
• £100 cash for you to spend on whatever you want
• A VIP day at top creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi

Two runners-up will land these great prizes:
• £50 cash all to themselves
• The chance to see your design on the pages of Sugar
Last year’s winner was Jessie Lansbury, 15, from Herts, won last year’s competition with this fab entry.

“My poster’s been up in 5,000 schools! Plus my placement at Saatchi & Saatchi was my first step to becoming a designer.”
Rules of entry
The competition is open to residents of GB and Eire only. Employees of Hachette Filipacchi (UK), NSPCC and their families are not eligible to enter. Closing date 25 July 2008. Entries received after this date will be ineligible. Six finalists will be notified by 30 July 2008. The winner will be chosen by 30 August 2008. Entrants may enter as many times as they like. WOW! I got into the final six! My hands were shaking as I read the email, and then I had a kind of happy fit. :D I feel so good that my poster could be the one to help do something about bullying! I've been through it before, and I don't think it's right to treat anyone like bullies do, and if they are treated badly, they should tell someone. Just stand up, and speak out. ;D

I got into the final six! I'm so exited! The thing that realy inspiered me in my entery was the fact that I have been bullied really nastily both mentaly and physicaly. My best friend got bullied so badly that she had to move schools! I really hope that the winners poster really stops bullies in thier tracks. :)

I have enterned the comp myself! I think sugar is brilliant for coming up with this idea that teenagers can design the purpose! I really put lots of effort and emotions into this poster. Every picture has a story of bulling behind it! I hope my poster wins! I would love the chance to help others sort out Bullies! It takes a lot of corage to stand up an i hope i have achieved this in the poster i have produced! Thank You!! Fingers Crossed-

I got bullied in England in year 7. I came from a school which was further away from the other kids schools, so I felt alienated. Luckily, I was put in a class with my best friend (a guy), who was a total brainiac, and myself and him were always getting best marks and top in class. Naturally, one kid in particular (a guy) felt the need to tell me I was a square, swot, nerd, geek etc, but for some reason didn't pick on my friend. My confidence dropped like a stone, I felt really bad cos at the time I hadn't even heard of a "square", but when the kid started calling me it, it really hurt.I tried dumbing myself down, which was so stupid. It was also at this time that I developped an embarassing crush, created by me cos I felt that I wasn't equal to the other girls in my class cos they were all about jewelry, boys and clothes. I didn't wear jewelry, and had no fashion sense, so I thought that if I got in to boys and stuff I'd find it easier to relate to them. Then my bully found my homework book with all this stupid stuff in it about how amazing this "crush" was. In art, he grabbed it and showed the boy, and that was when I snapped. I actually leapt on to his back, knocking him to the floor, before grabbing my stuff and running to the school office. It was only then that I came out about the bullying, and I think I left it too long. I started to make new friends, and felt much happier. Now I live in France, and am getting top marks again, even though I've only been here for two years. Anyone who is being bullied, do NOT keep it to yourself, you MUST tell someone for it to stop. Don't make my mistake and keep it quiet.

at my school we had a comp designing posters about not bullying and the winning poster got printed and put all around the school. it sort of worked and the bullying still happens but not as mutch. every year we have a anti - bullying week and that involves loads of new posters being printed and the lessons were all bout bullying and one year the police came into the school and had a assembley about bullying and what can happen and this also helped the bullying die down for a while... i think its a well good idea

i think its important to campaign agaisnt bullying. No-one has the right to bully someone. At the moment iam being bullied by my best friends (well there not my best friends any more). I dont know why they have decided to bully me the last time they spoke to me we were laughing and having fun. No-one deserves to be bullied, especially by there best mates!!
