Have the two best friends really fallen out?

When we read a story about Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato Twitter-arguing and ending their friendship, we hoped it wasn't true.

Miley sent Demi a picture of the two of them giggling on the red carpet, and wrote underneath, "http://twitpic.com/k7dvd - Now this is what true friendship looks like. None of that hollywood crap. @ddlovato I miss you =]"

Nice enough, right? But Demi's response? "Yeah.. It's just kind of hard to miss somebody that I don't know anymore."

Uhhhhh, whaaaat?!?!

So what's the real story? Well since the report the girls have been back and forth with what seems like just a bit of play-fighting. Miley then went Twitter crazy with the following posts...

"@ddlovato It's really hard to be best friends since I don't even know you anymore. & I DON'T miss you. AT ALL. Even if there is a FIRE! HA!"

"I can't sleep so I think I'm just gonna lay in bed and think about how much I hate @ddlovato Its what I spend most of my time doing. Haha!"

"Goodnight everyone. P.S. No Demi and I aren't joking. We don't believe in jokes! This is happening. Our friendship is OVER! FOREVER!! bahaha"

And then she posted a pick of the pair again with, "Heres @ddlovato being the most supportive friend in the world. Not only did you go to the LA premier but London too. I can't help but love you. UGH dang it!"

I think we can most definitely confirm any reports of the girls' friendship ending are untrue, and we can't say we aren't relieved! Phew!
